The Kremlin stated on Friday that the Wagner private military group, whose leader Yevgeny Prigozhin is presumed to have died in a plane crash on Wednesday, has no official legal existence. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned in a press conference that Wagner exists as a group that made a "significant contribution" to the Russian military campaign in Ukraine and praised the "heroism" of its fighters. The Wagner group briefly attempted to march on Moscow in June in a rebellion aimed at overthrowing Prigozhin's opponents within the defense establishment.
