The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported today, Thursday, that broadcaster Michael Parkinson, who became famous for interviewing some of the biggest celebrities in the world on his talk show "Parkinson," has passed away at the age of 88. Tim Davie, director-general of the BBC, stated: "Michael was the king of talk shows and set the standard for all the broadcasters and shows that came after him." He added, "He interviewed the biggest stars of the twentieth century in a way that captivated the audience. Michael was not only brilliant at asking questions, but also a wonderful listener." Parkinson, also known as "Parky," estimated that he interviewed more than two thousand guests, including Muhammad Ali, Elton John, John Lennon, and Madonna. Parkinson revealed in 2013 that he was undergoing radiation treatment for prostate cancer, but doctors confirmed his recovery two years later. His family released a statement saying, "After feeling unwell for a short time, Sir Michael Parkinson passed away peacefully at his home last night surrounded by his family."
