The caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued an invitation to ministers today, Tuesday, to hold a meeting set for Thursday morning to discuss the financial and economic situation as the term of the Governor of the Central Bank, Riad Salameh, approaches its end. The council will review all options related to this matter, including the status of the governorship after Salameh and the available opportunities to appoint a new governor. Mikati had visited the Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, in the morning, who emphasized the necessity of appointing a new central bank governor.
