The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division, today Wednesday, issued a statement indicating: "As part of the ongoing follow-up by the Internal Security Forces to combat fraud and scams in various Lebanese regions, including the promotion of counterfeit currency, and as a result of field and investigative monitoring conducted by its departments in areas where such activities are prevalent, the Information Department was able to identify two individuals engaged in promoting counterfeit currency in the Baabda area. They are identified as: A.F. (born in 1990, Lebanese) and M.A. (born in 1980, Lebanese), both with prior criminal records; the first in drug promotion and the second in motorcycle theft.
On 20-09-2023, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the department's patrols managed to arrest them in the Kfarshima area. A blue motorcycle without plates, which was found to be stolen, was seized. Upon searching them and the motorcycle, the first individual had in his possession the amount of $450 in counterfeit currency, a mobile phone, and cash. The second individual also had a mobile phone and cash.
During the investigation, the first individual confessed to promoting counterfeit currency in Baabda using a "Range Rover" SUV or the seized motorcycle. The second individual admitted that the first offered him a job in promoting counterfeit currency and using the drug Captagon. Legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred along with the confiscated items to the relevant authority based on judicial instructions."
