Today, Friday, retired General and former Algerian Defense Minister Khaled Nizar passed away at the age of 86 after a prolonged illness, according to the Algerian News Agency. Khaled Nizar was born in the village of Sreyana in Batna Province in eastern Algeria in 1937. He served as the commander of the ground forces and then as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Algerian Army in 1987, before holding the position of Defense Minister from 1990 to 1993.
