A massive sandstorm has struck several areas in Egypt, covering roads such as the Suez Desert Road and obscuring sunlight, leading to darkness on the roads. The Egyptian General Authority for Meteorology has warned about the sandstorm affecting the country and advised against exposure to direct sunlight during daytime hours. According to Dr. Manar Ghanem, a member of the media center at the Meteorological Authority, "the wave affecting most parts of the country, which includes raised sands and dust, has not yet reached the level of a storm." She explained that although this wave is accompanied by descending winds in thunderstorm clouds in the Western Desert, leading to the stirring of sand and dust and decreased horizontal visibility, the difference between a storm and dusty winds is the level of visibility. In a storm, horizontal visibility drops below 1,000 meters, which did not occur today.
