US Senate Majority Leader Disappointed by China's Statement on Hamas Attacks

US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer expressed disappointment today, Monday, regarding the Chinese Foreign Ministry's statement, which did not show any sympathy or support for Israel "during these difficult times." Schumer made these remarks during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Speaking in Beijing, Schumer stated, "I urge you and the Chinese people to stand with the Israeli people and condemn these cowardly, brutal attacks," referring to the wide-ranging assault by the Palestinian group Hamas on Israel. A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry commented today, Monday, on the crisis in the Middle East, stating that Beijing opposes violence and attacks. Spokesperson Mao Ning highlighted that the correct path forward is to implement a two-state solution, adding that the international community should take action to calm the situation.
