Mawlawi: Any Security Error Poses a Danger to Beirut

Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi, during a security meeting in Beirut Governorate concerning the theft of cables from Beirut's tunnels, emphasized that any security error puts all of Beirut at risk and that everyone must assume their responsibilities. Mawlawi stated, "Protecting Beirut is based on the responsibility to safeguard it and its security, as Beirut is a city of life, and we will not accept it being in a position of danger." He mentioned that the removal of violations and encroachments will begin at the start of next week in the Beirut area, particularly along the waterfront. Minister Mawlawi chaired a security meeting in Beirut Governorate, addressing the issue of the theft of electrical wires, reiterating that any security error endangers all of central Beirut and the maritime base. Mawlawi asserted that he will not allow a repeat of what happened in the Beirut port explosion due to negligence.
