Guterres: The People of Gaza Need Aid as Soon as Possible

UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized, at the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, that “aid trucks must move to Gaza as quickly as possible.” He urged for “a large number of trucks to enter Gaza every day and for aid to be verified in a practical and swift manner,” adding, “We are tirelessly communicating with all parties to ensure the conditions for delivering aid are lifted.”

After leaving the crossing, Guterres wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter), stating, “It’s impossible to be at the Rafah crossing and not feel heartbroken. Behind these walls, there are two million people in Gaza with no water, food, medicine, or fuel.” He added, “On this side, these trucks have what they need; we need to make them move as soon as possible and as many as necessary.” He accompanied his post with a series of photos showing aid stacked at the crossing waiting to enter the strip.
