A chain collision today, Thursday, between seven vehicles on a highway in northwestern Turkey resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people and injured 57 others. The accident occurred in thick fog and low visibility on the Northern Marmara Highway in Sakarya Province, approximately 150 kilometers from Istanbul. An investigation into the incident has been launched; however, Sakarya Province Governor Yasar Karadeniz stated, "It is likely that the accident occurred when a car collided with a truck due to poor visibility, leading to further collisions behind the initial incident." Karadeniz mentioned to reporters at the scene that "authorities believe some passengers died when they exited their vehicles and were struck by other vehicles, and that seven of the injured are in critical condition." At least three intercity passenger buses were involved in the accident.
