France: One Death Due to Storm Ciaran

Officials in France reported today that "Storm Ciaran has caused the death of one person and left 1.2 million households without electricity, with warnings issued in areas of Brittany and Normandy in anticipation of strong winds." A local official told Radio RTL that "in the Finistère department of Brittany, where winds reached speeds of 207 kilometers per hour, two people suffered minor injuries, and traffic remains prohibited until further notice." Residents were urged to stay indoors.
