Former head of the Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, emphasized during a visit to Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, accompanied by his son Taymour, that "the fundamental sin is that Gaza has been under bombardment since 2006, with war after war." During their meeting, they discussed the general situation and the latest political and security developments in Lebanon and the region, in light of Israel's continued aggression against the Gaza Strip.
After the meeting, Jumblatt stated: "I discussed the ongoing developments with President Berri, and we hope that Lebanon will remain outside this circle unless the Israeli enemy insists on aggression. Our policy has primarily been to avoid aggression, but we note that there is ongoing aggression day after day by Israel."
He added: "What is happening is horrific. Some forget the fundamental issue and the essential project that united the Arabs, which nearly all the world agreed on in theory: the two-state solution."
He concluded: "I will publish a tweet from former French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin, who is sympathetic to Israel but reminds of the fundamental issue, which is the reality of Gaza being under bombardment since 2006 until 2021, with war after war. It is good to listen to de Villepin, and for other voices in France to emerge to correct the narrative in this politically and media-charged atmosphere from America to France to the entire world. Even in India, a small demonstration took place; where is India, which was once with the Third World, now?"
