Following the protests that spread today across various regions of Lebanon, "Starbucks" in Ras Beirut faced the wrath of the street, as a group of Lebanese youth entered the cafe and vandalized it, claiming that the company is among those that support Israel. The same occurred at one of the McDonald's branches in Beirut.
Young people also attacked the entrances of the American University of Beirut, where they smashed signs and lighting.
The Lebanese army warned against conflating peaceful protests and expressing opinions that harm the public interest in the country. In response to the ongoing attacks, the media commission of the Progressive Socialist Party stated: "Any assault on public and private properties, as occurred at the American University of Beirut, which stands as an academic, cultural, and educational beacon that has graduated generations over decades, is totally unacceptable."
It continued: "The required solidarity with the Palestinian people and the expression of condemnation of the massacres committed by the Israeli occupation do not justify vandalism of properties and institutions or targeting the army and security forces. This certainly does not serve the cause of Palestine."
