A group of students from the General Student Union stormed the main building of Middle East Airlines "ME" in Geitawi, Hamra, protesting the company's retention of the Lebanese University's dues amounting to $52 million. This action is part of a series of movements defending the Lebanese University and the right to education. Internal security forces surrounded the group and used force to remove them from the building. Janna Azedin from the Student Union stated, "We tell the state that the deficit in the university's budget should not be covered by students' pockets through increased registration fees." She reminded that the union, in collaboration with "Legal Agenda," filed an appeal against the decision to raise registration fees, urging the State Consultative Council to quickly decide on this appeal and suspend the enforcement of the decision, as registration has already begun in all university colleges and branches.
