Shukri Confirms Arab Contact Committee's Commitment to Resolving Syrian Crisis

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri discussed, during a phone call today with the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee concerning Syria that convened in Cairo. Shukri affirmed the committee's commitment to completing its assigned task to reach a resolution for the Syrian crisis in all its dimensions and to maintain Syria's unity and stability.

The official spokesperson and Director of Public Diplomacy at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid, noted that Minister Shukri exchanged views with the UN envoy regarding the latest developments in Syria on various levels and the efforts being made concerning all aspects of the Syrian crisis. They also agreed to arrange a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September.

Abu Zeid clarified that Pedersen expressed his great appreciation for Egypt's efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria, praising the outcomes of the Arab Contact Committee meeting and confirming his intention to coordinate with various stakeholders to build upon the achievements reached in the committee's last meeting.
