Lebanese Foreign Ministry: We Will File a Complaint to the Security Council Regarding Israel's Deliberate Killing of Journalists

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants has instructed Lebanon's permanent mission to the United Nations in New York to "file a complaint with the Security Council regarding Israel's deliberate killing of Lebanese journalist martyr Issam Abdullah, who worked for Reuters, and the injuries sustained by other journalists from Agence France-Presse and Al Jazeera. This constitutes a blatant assault and a documented crime against freedom of opinion and press, human rights, and international humanitarian law, through the ease of killing unarmed journalists who are victims of their desire to transmit and defend the truth with their cameras and pens, as well as documenting the repeated Israeli assaults in South Lebanon."

The complaint included "an explanation of the escalating provocations and Israeli assaults over the past week, what they caused in terms of injuries to lives and properties, and a continuous violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and Security Council Resolution 1701, which Lebanon has emphasized its commitment to uphold in all its provisions. Israel is held responsible for the current escalation and warned that failing to put an end to its actions will ignite the entire region and threaten international peace and security and the interests of the whole world."
