Army: Missions to Combat Human and Drug Trafficking Across Borders

A statement was issued by the Army Command – Directorate of Guidance as follows: "As part of the security operations carried out by the army to combat human and drug trafficking across borders and to apprehend those disrupting security, the deployed military units, with the support of the Directorate of Intelligence, conducted various missions on the dates of 11 and 12/8/2023, resulting in the following: ● The arrest of 150 Syrians in the town of Shadra, the Khirbet al-Rumman area, and the main road at the Awainat - Akkar area while trying to illegally enter Lebanese territory. ● The arrest of citizens (M.S.) and his brother (M.S.), (A.A.), and (W.T.) in the Abi Samra area – Tripoli for opening fire, with a Kalashnikov rifle, a quantity of ammunition, and hashish found in their possession. ● The seizure of about 23 kg of hashish and 3,000 Captagon pills in the Wadi al-Zamrani area – Juroud Arsal on a motorcycle while attempting to smuggle them into Lebanon. The confiscated items were handed over, and investigations into the arrests were initiated under the supervision of the relevant judiciary."
