The guide issued by the Saudi Ministry of Culture, published on the official account for the "Flag Day" event on its Twitter page and website, announced 3 new amendments to the national flag of the Kingdom. It stated that "the amendments included the addition of diacritics to the phrase of monotheism (the two testimonies), the addition of decorative formations, and a slight modification to the grip of the drawn sword below the phrase of monotheism." Every year on March 11, Saudis celebrate "Flag Day" after King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a royal decree designating this date as a day specifically for the flag. This date commemorates March 11, 1937, which corresponds to the 27th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1355 AH, the day when the late King Abdulaziz approved the flag in its current form.
