As Meta tries to encourage younger Instagram users to put their phones down for a break at night, the company has found a solution. It announced a new measure to protect its teenage users, aged 13 to 17, by launching a series of nighttime alerts that appear after more than 10 minutes of scrolling through sections like Reels or direct message areas late at night. Thus, teenage users can expect to see these night alerts after 10 PM, featuring a black screenshot that asks, "Is it time for a break? It's late... consider closing Instagram for the night."
