Minister of Defense Meets Army Commander: Affirmation of the Army as the Guarantee of Security and Stability

On Monday, Defense Minister of the caretaker government, Maurice Sleem, received Army Commander General Joseph Aoun in his office in Yarzeh. They discussed the conditions of the military institution and the overall security situation in the country. The conversation included the army's efforts in combating illegal immigration, securing the borders, and preventing the illegal infiltration of Syrian displaced persons into Lebanese territory.

During the meeting, the role of the army in the southern Litani sector was addressed, emphasizing the establishment of stability and reassurance in the region. It was confirmed that the "army remains the institution that guarantees security and stability, thanks to the sacrifices of the military personnel and their continuous dedication to defending the homeland."

The Lebanese Army announced, via its account on X, that "General Joseph Aoun visited the Defense Minister and thanked him for expressing condolences for the two officers who were martyred following the crash of an army helicopter in the Hamana area."
