The White House reported that U.S. President Joe Biden did not hear well the question posed by a journalist regarding whether Israel should postpone its potential ground invasion of Gaza until more hostages are released when he responded with a "yes." White House spokesperson Ben LaBolt clarified, "The president was distracted. He did not hear the full question. The question sounded as if it were (Do you want to release more hostages?), and he was commenting on something else." Biden was ascending the steps of Air Force One when a journalist asked the question amid the noise of the plane's engines. Biden paused for a moment and said "yes" before boarding the aircraft.
