Israeli Police: 3 Injured in Stabbing Incident in Jerusalem

Israeli police announced that two individuals were injured in a stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem today, Wednesday, one of whom is in serious condition. In a statement, the police reported that the suspect, a 17-year-old from East Jerusalem, has been arrested. Violence has surged in the West Bank over the past 18 months, with attacks occurring sporadically in Jerusalem. Rafi Hakohen, an emergency paramedic who happened to be near the scene of the attack, stated that he found a man in his fifties lying on the ground and bleeding profusely from multiple wounds. Channel 12 aired images of blood stains on the sidewalk outside the Old City gate, which is a main entry point for tourists. The police cordoned off the surrounding area. A spokesperson for Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip, praised the attack but did not mention that the attacker was a member of the movement. Hamas spokesman Mohammad Hamada said, "This stabbing operation proves beyond doubt that no matter what crimes the occupation commits, it will not break the will of the escalating resistance."
