Qatar's efforts have not ceased in parallel with the recent French initiatives, as discussions circulated regarding dozens of envoys who came to Lebanon and met with political officials away from the spotlight. Consequently, the Qataris' task in the upcoming phase and their entry into official mediation at the request of the quintet group will be to express the positions of the political forces and outline possible scenarios to ultimately resolve the situation by the quintet group, led by the United States, according to "Al-Diyar."
While media reports have suggested that the quintet group is leaning toward endorsing the nomination of Army Chief Joseph Aoun, this remains contingent upon U.S.-Iranian agreements. This is where Qatar comes in, as it maintains good relations with Iran, allowing it to communicate effectively regarding the Lebanese presidential file, unlike the French, who have struggled in this task. In fact, French President Emmanuel Macron accused Iran of obstructing the presidential elections, which complicated the French mediation efforts.
