Turkey's chief advisor on foreign policy and security, Akif Cagatay Kilic, revealed that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will focus during their meeting tomorrow, Monday, on the grain export agreement via Black Sea ports, with Ankara seeking to bring Moscow back into the accord.
In a television interview, Akif Cagatay Kilic stated, "We play a key role here. We see strong support from around the world to activate the grain corridor." He added, "The current situation of the grain agreement will be discussed at the summit tomorrow. We are cautious but we hope to achieve success because this situation affects the entire world."
Kilic explained that Ankara is aware of the technical complexities surrounding the agreement, particularly concerning Russian grains and payment mechanisms. He noted that the issue also relates to international payment systems like SWIFT, posing a multi-faceted challenge. He said, "Here, the decision of the Russian leader is important. I believe that the bilateral meeting between President Erdogan and Putin will play the most significant role in this matter."
