Israel and the U.S. Differ on

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted today, Tuesday, that "Israel and the U.S. differ regarding the post-Hamas phase," expressing hope for a near agreement. Netanyahu stated, "Israel will not allow Gaza to be run after the war by those who support or finance terrorism." He added, "The United States supports Israel in its objectives to eliminate the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and to secure the release of hostages held by the Palestinian movement." Netanyahu reiterated his rejection of "support for the return of the Western-backed Palestinian Authority led by President Mahmoud Abbas to govern Gaza," saying, "Gaza will not be Hamasstan nor Fatahstan." Fatah is the movement to which Abbas belongs.
