Major stock indices on Wall Street closed higher on Tuesday, recovering from a series of losses after optimistic economic data eased investors’ fears of an imminent recession due to expectations of higher U.S. interest rates. According to preliminary data, the S&P 500 index rose by 49.25 points or 1.14% to close at 4378.07 points, while the Nasdaq Composite increased by 219.71 points or 1.65% to 13555.49 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also gained 210.66 points or 0.62% to reach 33925.37 points.
