The Army Command – Directorate of Guidance issued the following statement: "Units of the army continued their missions aimed at combating human smuggling and illegal entry. In this context, during the past two weeks, attempts by nearly 700 Syrians to cross the Lebanese-Syrian border were thwarted. On January 3, 2024, at the Chehadra checkpoint in Akkar, nine Syrians who had illegally entered Lebanese territory inside a gas truck were arrested, and the truck driver was also detained. Investigations with the detainees have begun under the supervision of the competent judiciary."
