Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated today, Saturday, that he aims to transform the defense sector into a "major military hub" through partnerships with Western arms manufacturers to increase the necessary weapons supplies to support Kyiv's counteroffensive against Russia. Speaking at a forum in Kyiv, Zelensky said, "Ukraine is in a phase of defensive marathon, where it is very important to move forward without retreat. Daily results are needed from the front line." He added, "We are interested in localizing the production of the necessary equipment for our defense, as well as all the advanced defense systems used by our soldiers, which provides Ukraine with the best results on the front." Zelensky highlighted that "air defense and mine clearance are among his immediate priorities," adding that his country also seeks to enhance local production of missiles, drones, and artillery ammunition.
