The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that "we engaged with an Israeli ground force of 8 soldiers in Sheikh Ajlin near the city of Gaza, causing them fatalities and injuries." They also reported that they "targeted an Israeli Merkava tank with a Yassin 105 missile west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip."
