Death of Ali Nasman: A Comedian Who Fought for Palestine

Palestinian artist Ali Nasman was martyred this Friday afternoon in an Israeli airstrike on the Gaza Strip, just a day after appearing in a video where he spoke about the "inevitability of victory or martyrdom." Nasman was seen in a video on his official Instagram account titled, "We will not show you fear or panic. May God have mercy on those rejoicing in what He has given them."

A few hours before his death, he posted on his official Facebook account, "Gaza strikes deep into the entity in Safed," and "God bless your men, Jenin." Nasman continued to share daily video clips from under the bombardment in Gaza, conveying to his followers and the world what was happening on the ground, highlighting the resilience of the people of Gaza despite the destruction, asserting, "The people of Gaza hold their heads high."

A climate of sadness enveloped his followers upon hearing the news of Nasman's martyrdom. They commented on his previous videos saying, "May God have mercy on you Ali, you were a media front on your own," and "May God have mercy on your soul, I swear we only saw goodness from you, and we loved you," as well as, "By the Lord of Glory, we will continue after you, Ali."

Nasman was a political activist, comedian, and Palestinian blogger, participating in several Palestinian series, including "The Spirit" and "The Gate of Heaven." He also took part in the series "The Victory of Gilboa," which recounted the story of the six prisoners who dug a tunnel to gain their freedom from Gilboa Prison in September 2021.
