Former Leicester Player Drinkwater Retires at Thirty-Three

Former Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater has retired from football at the age of thirty-three. Drinkwater began his professional career at his hometown club Manchester United in 2009, but he never played a match for the club, instead spending time on loan at Cardiff City, Watford, and Barnsley. His longest stint was with Leicester City, where he helped the club win the English League One title in the 2013-2014 season and the Premier League title in the 2015-2016 season. Shortly after that, he appeared in three matches for the England national team. Drinkwater joined Chelsea in 2017 and was loaned out to Burnley, Aston Villa, Kasımpaşa, and Reading. He became a free agent after his contract with Chelsea ended in June 2022.
