Suicide Bombing in Pakistan Leaves 44 Dead and Dozens Injured

At least 44 people were killed and dozens were injured in a suicide bombing targeting a political gathering of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party in Pakistan. More than 400 party members and supporters were gathered under a tent when the attack occurred in the town of Khar, near the border with Afghanistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Riyaz Anwar stated late yesterday that "44 people have been killed, and more than 100 have been injured. It was a suicide attack. The attacker detonated himself close to the stage."

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the explosion and offered condolences to the victims, pledging to hold those responsible accountable.

Footage from the blast site showed bodies lying on the ground, while volunteers assisted in transporting bloodied injured individuals to ambulances.
