The Lebanese Football Association has decided to part ways with Croatian head coach Nikola Jorčevic. This decision was made by the Executive Committee of the Association during its weekly meeting last Monday, "in order to secure the best available technical staff for the national team ahead of its participation in the Asian Cup finals, which will begin on January 12 in Qatar. Lebanon will play the opening match against the host and defending champion, in Group A alongside China and Tajikistan," according to the team's media official, Charbel Kareem.
The Association and Jorčevic have mutually agreed to terminate the contract amicably. The Croatian coach oversaw the team in four matches, losing two friendlies against Montenegro 2-3 and the UAE 1-2, while drawing two official matches against Palestine 0-0 and Bangladesh 1-1 in the dual Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup.
The Association will announce the name of the new head coach and staff at the beginning of next week to prepare the team for the continental challenge, which will include two training camps before the tournament, and a friendly international match against Saudi Arabia on January 4 in the Qatari capital, Doha.
