Title: Several Killed in Suicide Attack on Café in Mogadishu

A witness and medical sources informed Reuters that a suicide bomber detonated explosives at a café in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Friday, resulting in the death of at least seven people. The witness stated that the explosion occurred in the afternoon, near a checkpoint on a road leading to the parliament and the president's office, noting that the café is frequented by soldiers. Somali police spokesman, Sadik Ali, reported that the explosion resulted in the deaths of five individuals and injured six others, indicating that the bomber was a member of the Al-Shabaab group, which is linked to al-Qaeda. He added in a statement: "Five people were killed, all were drinking tea. The bomber was one of the terrorists referred to as 'khawarij'," using the term the government employs to refer to Al-Shabaab. Al-Shabaab, linked to al-Qaeda, has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks in Mogadishu and other areas of Somalia.
