Iraq... 124 Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges

The "Asayish" security institution in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq reported today, Friday, that 124 individuals were arrested on drug trafficking and use charges in Sulaymaniyah governorate during October. The institution stated in a statement that "during the past month, several successful operations led to the arrest of 124 suspects involved in drug use and trafficking in the city of Sulaymaniyah and its suburbs." During the same month, 11 kilograms and 24 grams of narcotic substances were seized, including types such as crystal, heroin, tilak, tramadol pills, and poppy seeds, according to the statement. The institution indicated that "the suspects are currently detained by court order under articles (25, 26, 30) of the anti-drug and psychotropic substances law," confirming that investigations with them are ongoing.
