Death of Fourth Bahraini Soldier Following Houthi Attack

The Bahrain Defence Force's General Command announced that a fourth Bahraini soldier died today, Friday, "from serious wounds" sustained during a drone attack carried out by the Houthis on Monday against coalition forces "stationed on the southern border of Saudi Arabia" near the kingdom's border with Yemen. The Houthis, allied with Iran, have been fighting against the Saudi-led coalition since 2015 in a conflict that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and left 80 percent of Yemen's population dependent on aid. The drone attack marks a significant escalation following more than a year of relative calm in Yemen amid a momentum in peace efforts. This attack could undermine talks between Saudi officials and the Houthis, who recently held a new round of negotiations regarding a potential agreement to end the conflict.
