In the context of a proactive diplomatic campaign aimed at preventing escalation and avoiding a deterioration of conditions in the region, and in open consultation with Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Foreign Minister and Emigrants Abdullah Bou Habib consecutively met with ambassadors from 26 countries to discuss the latest developments in Gaza and the south.
During the meeting, Minister Bou Habib emphasized that we in Lebanon are not enthusiasts or advocates of war but wish to maintain calm and stability. Therefore, it is necessary to stop the increasing Israeli provocations and assaults on the southern border, the deliberate killing of journalists, targeting civilians, the Lebanese army and its positions, UNIFIL sites, and the bombing of villages and towns inhabited by civilians.
Bou Habib stressed the need to put an end to the ongoing escalation in Gaza, which has lasted for eleven days, as it may lead to dire consequences for the peoples and countries in the region, as well as for international interests. He reiterated the call for all reasonable parties to pressure Israel to stop this war and return to negotiations to restore the legitimate rights of their owners.
