Borrell Calls for a Ceasefire in Gaza: Killing Civilians Violates International Law

European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borrell called for a "ceasefire in the hostilities in Gaza to allow humanitarian aid into the area following a night of intense Israeli bombardment." He noted on social media that "Gaza is completely cut off from the world and isolated while the focused bombardment continues. UNRWA warns of the desperate situation of Gaza's inhabitants without electricity, food, or water." He pointed out that "a huge number of civilians have been killed, including children. This is against international humanitarian law," emphasizing that "there is an urgent need for a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to reach the area."
