Latharo: Any Additional Escalation in Southern Lebanon Could Have Devastating Consequences

UNIFIL Head and Force Commander General Arnaldo Latharo expressed his concern regarding the ongoing intense gunfire along the Blue Line, which has claimed many lives, caused significant damage, and threatens people's livelihoods. He continued, "As peacekeepers, we urge those exchanging fire along the Blue Line to cease this cycle of violence," adding, "Any additional escalation in Southern Lebanon could have devastating consequences." He stated, "The parties must reaffirm their commitment to UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and cease hostilities while seeking long-term solutions to address the underlying causes of the conflict."
