Social media buzzed with news that Egyptian artist Bayoumi Fouad has acquired citizenship from one of the countries. Bayoumi Fouad confirmed in statements to "Ahram Gate" that all the circulated videos regarding the issue are very old, approximately 17 months old, noting that he obtained citizenship from a Caribbean country, and not any other country as some have claimed. He explained that what he did is normal, as it was preceded by artist Hany Shakir, and that there has been no resulting crisis or rumors, according to him. Bayoumi affirmed that he loves Egypt, indicating that obtaining citizenship from Caribbean countries poses no problems at all.
