The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced in a statement that "as part of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat all types of crimes, including car thefts, information was received on May 31, 2023, by the Mishmish Detachment in the Regional Gendarmerie Unit regarding the passage of a vehicle of the type 'Kia Cerato' suspected to be stolen within the jurisdiction of the detachment. Consequently, patrols from this detachment set up ambushes and established fixed and mobile checkpoints, successfully seizing the vehicle and arresting its driver, named A.J. (1989, Lebanese).
It was found that the vehicle belongs to a car rental company and had been stolen about a month ago from the Besalim area.
In a related context, following comprehensive investigations and inquiries, the elements of the Mishmish Detachment were able to seize:
- A black four-wheel drive vehicle of the type 'Hyundai Tucson' in the high plateau area / Mramel locality, which had been stolen from Antelias.
- A silver 'Hyundai' vehicle without plates in the town of Barqa'il, which was found to have been stolen from the Koura area.
