The public works department in Hamas issued a statement strongly condemning UNRWA's indefinite postponement of the school year opening in Sidon and its camps. They stated that this decision "poses a significant threat to the educational process and harms the educational journey of Palestinian students and their academic level." They considered that "this decision exacerbates the tragic social and economic reality faced by the Palestinian community in Lebanon and leads to further complications." They called on UNRWA to "immediately reverse this decision and take the necessary steps to resume the school year in a manner that allows students to gain the required educational attainment and essential competencies." They mentioned that there are many social and educational institutions capable of assisting in resuming the school year and serving the community.
