Biden Heads to Florida to Inspect Hurricane Damage

U.S. President Joe Biden is heading to Florida today, Saturday, to inspect the damage caused by Hurricane Idalia and to reassure those affected. However, he will not be meeting with the state's Governor Ron DeSantis. Biden indicated yesterday, Friday, that he "would meet with the governor during the visit," but DeSantis's spokesperson, Jeremy Redfern, later stated that "no meeting had been planned, and the security preparations alone required to arrange such a meeting would halt ongoing recovery efforts."
