Deputy Speaker of the House Elias Bou Saab was briefed this Wednesday morning by the UN Special Coordinator Joanna Wronecka on the results of meetings in the Security Council, particularly discussions related to Lebanon following recent events in southern Lebanon. According to a statement from Bou Saab's office, Wronecka conveyed the Security Council's concern about the war not extending along the Blue Line and emphasized the importance of UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army in the south, reiterating that there is no intention to change Resolution 1701. Current internal issues, especially the presidential election, were also discussed. For his part, Bou Saab expressed his gratitude for "the efforts made in the Security Council" and hoped that the tragedy experienced with "UNIFIL" would not be repeated. He lamented "the Israeli assaults in Gaza and southern Lebanon and the unjustifiable violations against innocent civilians, which are considered war crimes recorded in Israel's dark history."
