Tragic Birthday Gift Results in Death of Ukrainian Commander's Aide

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhnyi, confirmed today, Monday, the death of his aide Gennady Chastiakov, stating that an explosive device exploded from a gift he received for his birthday. He said via his Telegram channel: "Today, under tragic circumstances, on his birthday, my aide and close friend, Gennady Chastiakov, was killed when an explosive device exploded in one of the gifts. Gennady leaves behind a wife and four children. Our heartfelt condolences to his family." He also added that the reasons and circumstances will be determined during the judicial investigation, according to the Novosti agency.
