A source from the delegation accompanying German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and local media reported that the minister had to cut her visit to Djibouti short on Wednesday after her flight was redirected to Saudi Arabia due to a lack of authorization to fly over Eritrea. Djibouti was the first stop on Baerbock's three-day tour of East Africa, where she is scheduled to discuss the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Kenya and South Sudan are the next destinations on her agenda. Last August, a planned week-long trip for Baerbock to the Indian and Pacific Ocean regions was canceled due to recurring mechanical issues with her government aircraft.
