Social media users have circulated a new verb derived from "Israel," which has been added to an online slang dictionary known as "Urban Dictionary." The term, "israeled," refers to claiming ownership of something that belongs to someone else, implying "theft."
Users shared screenshots explaining the new term and how to use it. A significant number of people interacted with this new term, posting screenshots of sentences containing "israeled" via Google Translate, which reflect the prevailing meaning of the word.
The addition of the verb "israeled" seems to have arisen amid global discussions surrounding the events in Gaza and the ongoing Israeli bombardment of the territory. Notably, "Urban Dictionary" is a crowdsourced online dictionary of slang words and phrases that was established in 1999 as a parody of Dictionary.com and Vocabulary.com, by student Aaron Peckham.
