Blind Egyptian Reveals Error in the New 20 Pound Note Design

Ramzi Mustafa, a music education professor at Helwan University and a visually impaired individual, has unveiled a mistake in the new plastic 20-pound note that features Braille for the blind. He expressed his deep sadness upon holding the new currency, as he found that the number depicted on the note does not indicate twenty pounds at all, but rather seven pounds.

Mustafa explained to "Cairo 24" that the number on the new plastic note is represented by the Braille dots 1245, which corresponds to the number 7. In Braille, a number 20 would require two digits, as each character is made up of six dots. He emphasized that any blind person who encounters the new 20-pound note would immediately recognize it as the number 7. He noted that it is essential to include the correct Braille marking consistently to reflect the actual denomination.
