The South Korean military reported that North Korea launched several missiles towards the Yellow Sea in the early hours of Saturday. The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea indicated that intelligence from South Korea and the United States analyzed the details of the launch. This launch is the latest in a series of missile tests conducted by North Korea in recent weeks, which included a failed attempt to launch a satellite at the end of last month. The official Korean Central News Agency announced on Thursday that Pyongyang conducted a simulation of a nuclear strike on targets in South Korea, following a "scorched earth" policy. Seoul announced on Friday the imposition of sanctions on five individuals and a company from North Korea in response to what it claimed was North Korea's launch of a space missile last month.
