The renowned Iraqi poet, Karim Al-Iraqi, passed away today, Friday, at the age of 68, after a long battle with illness, according to Iraqi Prime Minister's cultural advisor, Aref Al-Saeedi, on Facebook. Al-Saeedi stated: "I mourn the poet Karim Al-Iraqi, who departed early this morning in a hospital in Abu Dhabi," without providing further details. Karim Al-Iraqi was born on February 18, 1955, in the Shakiriyah district of Karrada Marium in Baghdad. He is a well-known poet with dozens of literary works, including popular poetry, songs, and plays.
